Time-Lapse High spec Home cinema build converting a double garage. Luxurious UltraHD home cinema room with a 2.35:1 acoustically transparent screen and 7.2.4 Dolby Atmos sound. This seven seat cinema room has acoustically transparent fabric panels to hide the in wall speakers. The fabric panels also conceal many plumbing and electrical utilities, which were already located in the garage and needed to remain in place, but unseen. The Garage conversion work was done to a high standard with soundproofing to the screen wall and with the floor thermally insulated. The timelapse video is mesmerizing with very fast action and a lot of activity shown within a very short time. The cinema room features lighting control with control4 and projection using a Sony SXRD 4K projector utilising motorised lens with lens memories to enable all aspect ratios to be projected at full height on the cinema scope screen. The speakers are Dali Phantom with thunderous bass from two Dali K14F Subwoofers. The processing and amplification is delivered by an Anthem MRX-1140 AV Receiver. All of the design work was done by UK Home Cinemas of Berkshire UK as well as the supply and installation of the audio-visual equipment and the elements of home cinema style such as the fabric wall panels etc. The building work for the garage conversion (and for prerequisites for the cinema room) was carried out by LA Building and Construction Limited, also of Berkshire UK. Sound proofing elements were incorporated into the design of the screen wall, such as the use of resilient bar to decouple and reduce the transfer of vibration from the acoustic plasterboard to studs and the use of several layers of acoustic plasterboard , use of rockwool inside the stud wall and having the speakers set into a separate layer of plywood located in front of the main stud wall. The size of the double garage prior to conversion was: approximately 7.2 Metres long by about 4.7 metres wide. A small part of this remains as a storage area, accessible via the original garage door, so the length of the finished cinema room is about 6.3 metres. The original ceiling height of the garage was about 2.47 Metres. This was reduced slightly due to adding insulation in the floor as can be seen in the video.

We used an infinity star Ceiling from Starscape Star Ceilings. We also used Track and Fabric system with acoustic treatments to line the walls of the room. The size of the room is Approx. 6 metres by 6 Metres.

Absolutely everything is controlled from an in wall touch screen and also from the client's iphone. The budget for a similar home theatre room transformation would be about $85000 US including design work, seats ,4K projector, Dolby Atmos sound , acoustic treatments and RGBW LED lighting. The interior design includes bespoke laser cut gold columns which house some of the speakers and also some of the acoustic treatments. The project took place in a stunning villa on the French Riviera - The finished home cinema room is about 6 metres from front to back and slightly over 4 metres wide. Q: What does a project like this cost minus the av equipment?

A: In this case I think the room transformation was somewhere around £14K including chasing cables into the walls and supply of all lighting and supply of the projection screen. Also that included electrical work, and commissioning everything, but that figure does not include the cost of the projector , player devices , AV Receiver, speakers etc which are all extra and will vary hugely in price depending what level of performance the customer wants, (probably anything from about £6K upwards for a basic 1080P kit and the sky is the limit. We have had cinema room projects where the total can add up to around £50K, but we do some smaller projects where we can supply and install a complete system (without any room re modeling or lighting) from around £6K.

Q: What is the ceiling made out of?

A: They are Infinity Star ceiling panels from Starscape star ceilings. I think they are made of some kind of composite foam board , coated with a black velvet like material. and of course they are supplied with the fiber optic stars already installed.
